The impact of war and the value of freedom.

Prior to Bridge to Liberation, we will commemorate the Battle of Arnhem (17-25 September 1944) and the subsequent forced evacuation of the inhabitants of Arnhem in the presence of the veterans at the official commemoration on Airborneplein. The attendees will then honour those veterans who return to Arnhem with their families each year, keeping the stories alive and passing them on to future generations.

In the Netherlands we have lived in freedom for 75 years now. What binds us in 2020, is that we live in a free country where we have the freedom to say what we think, to believe what we want. To be who we want to be, without hunger or fear.

What is freedom? What is a lack of freedom? Bridge to Liberation -Screen Experience- in 2020 is about regaining freedom and how fighting for someone’s freedom can lead to a lack of freedom.

We need each other to guard our freedom.
We are responsible for each other’s freedom.

75 YEARS OF FREEDOM

of freedom

In 2020 we commemorate the end of World War II, 75 years ago. We celebrate that we have been living in freedom ever since, realizing that together we are responsible for transmitting freedom.
