The intentions of the composer
Julian is aware of his responsibility towards what is often referred to as the “intentions of the composer.” He delves deep into scores and investigates the organic connections that give a work its unity. “If you know a room in an apartment, but not that the apartment has seven other rooms, you don’t even understand the room you’re in,” he says.
