2020: FREE

We have been living in freedom in the Netherlands for 75 years. What unites us in 2020 is that we live in a free country where we have the freedom to say what we think, to believe what we want. To be who we want, without hunger or fear.

What is freedom? What is unfreedom? Bridge to Liberation -Screen Experience- in 2020 is about regaining freedom from lack of freedom and how fighting for someone's freedom can lead to lack of freedom.

We need each other to safeguard our freedom.
We are responsible for each other's freedom.

Story: Free

With Operation Market Garden, the Allies arrived by air to end World War II. To set us free. As a result, many of them ended up in unfreedom. The resistance was necessary to give them their freedom back.

The reason for the story in Bridge to Liberation is the personal experiences of Godfrey Freeman, recorded in the book 'Escape from Arnhem'. About a young pilot from the Army Air Corps (AAC) who fought in the Battle of Arnhem. During the last days of the defense of the Arnhem bridge, Godfrey Freeman is captured by the Germans. After several failed escape attempts, he finally manages to escape from the train during its transport to Germany. But then the adventure really begins. After many wanderings, he comes into contact with the Dutch resistance, which helps him get through the German lines by bicycle and flee to England.
