BATTLE OF ARNHEM

Read more about the Battle of Arnhem here

Every year on the third Friday in September, the city commemorates the victims of the Battle of Arnhem. The people of Arnhem also commemorate the evacuation of our city, when approximately one hundred thousand Arnhem citizens had to leave home and hearth behind.

Together with more than 100 partners, we keep the memory of the Battle of Arnhem alive. By encouraging learning from lessons from 'the prevention' of wars and conflicts in the interest of obtaining and maintaining peace and freedom. To do this, three important pillars are central: remembering, realizing and experiencing. Partners organize activities related to the Battle of Arnhem in Arnhem, Ede, Oosterbeek, Renkum, Doorwerth, Heveadorp, Heelsum, Wolfheze and Driel. The municipalities of Arnhem, Ede, Renkum and Overbetuwe support the Airborne Region Foundation and our activities.

The Airborne Region offers a particularly extensive and varied programme. Visit www.airborne-region.nl for the program and more information.
