Impact of war
Mirte Engelhard created a fashion collection for Museum Arnhem, featuring nine outfits that bring memory , loss , strength , and hope The collection is a visual translation of their personal stories, using fashion as a powerful tool to reflect on the impact of war over time.
Mirte uses leftover materials, upcycled fabrics, and sustainable techniques. Her choice of fabrics, colors, and details brings the participants' personal stories to life, making each garment reflect the complex experience of war and freedom.
Resistance = Standing
for something!
Fashion show, exhibition and documentary
Engelhard's collection was presented on Liberation Day, May 5th, in a public fashion show during the Freedom Meal next to the Eusebius in Arnhem. A special occasion in honor of 80 years of freedom.
The collection will be on display at Museum Arnhem May 9 to August 3, 2025. The exhibition will further explore the personal stories of the participants and the material choices. Admission to the exhibition at the museum's De Koepel is free.
From May 9th to May 26th, the participants' stories will be featured in the Rozet , illustrating the collection. The entire collection was captured in a fashion shoot by fashion photographer Ivo de Kok.
From May 30th to August 3rd, fashion photography will be on display at Dudok Arnhem as part of June Fashion Month. All three exhibitions demonstrate how fashion is not just clothing, but a powerful form of expression and processing.
The entire process of Impact of War will be captured in a documentary by Moiety Film , which will be shown at Focus Filmtheater June 27 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
