Emmy Drop
Emmy drop
native country: the Netherlands (Jewish)
in hiding during the Second World War and evacuated after the Battle of Arnhem.
In 1942, the Jewish family Menko went into hiding in Amersfoort. Emmy, blonde and talkative, went into hiding separately. There was a chance of a better life for her. She first goes to Twello. Then Aunt Annie, who is in the resistance, brings her to foster parents in Arnhem. Her foster parents are 'great people' where Emmy has a nice home.
After the Battle of Arnhem, Emmy also has to evacuate and is separated from her foster parents. Her biological family was betrayed, deported to Westerbork and murdered in Sobibor. Aunt Annie died in Auschwitz. After the war, Emmy was alone. Due to the repeated loss of her mothers, Emmy has built a wall around her heart as protection.
The design
In this outfit we see Emmy sitting on a mountain; A volcano. With only emptiness and beautiful blue clouds above them. The light blue bolero stands for the clouds, the mega large flared legs increase the perspective of the height of the rock. The lava in the rock stands for fear and danger if you go into the depth. Together with Emmy, Mirte made the bag of leftover leather in the form of a very large tear. This also refers to the only tangible that Emmy has from her parents; A silver cutlery. The bag has the same openwork shape as this cutlery.
