ExperienceExperienceFor the past six years, the John Frost Bridge in Arnhem has traditionally been the setting for Bridge to Liberation on the third Friday of September. An experience featuring music, special effects, film, and dance takes you on a spectacular journey through true personal stories from the time of the Battle of Arnhem. Exciting, beautiful, and moving stories that you could easily place in “the present.”

This year marked the seventh edition of Bridge to Liberation. The year in which the Netherlands commemorates 75 years of Freedom. But also the year in which the Netherlands, as part of the world, is dominated by the consequences of the Coronavirus outbreak. Bridge to Liberation remained Bridge to Liberation and was organized in accordance with the applicable guidelines of the RIVM. This year, you experienced Bridge to Liberation 'on screen'. 'Corona-proof', innovative, and for everyone! Bridge to Liberation was broadcast LIVE on television and on various livestreams.

Before Bridge to Liberation, we commemorate the Battle of Arnhem (September 17-25, 1944) and the subsequent forced evacuation of Arnhem residents at the official commemoration at Airborne Square, in the presence of veterans. Attendees will then salute the veterans who still return to Arnhem with their families every year, keeping their stories alive and passing them on to future generations.
