Edsilia Rombley

Edsilia Rombley often manages to leave a deep impression with her performances. During Bridge to Liberation -screen experience- she will be able to convey the feeling of the stories perfectly.

Edsilia Rombley stands for unsurpassed versatility. Soul, Pop, Jazz, R&B. Up tempo, ballads. She sings Dutch and English songs with equal ease and alternates her theater tours with TV appearances. As one of the Ladies of Soul, she has already performed 15 times in a sold-out Ziggo Dome. With her last theater tour The Piano Ballads & More, Edsilia performed in many theaters throughout the Netherlands.

WARM, DISARMING, WITH HUMOR AND A WINK

She recorded her album 'Sweet Soul Music' accompanied by the Metropole Orchestra. The album was released on April 12, 2013 and reached number 7 in the Album Top 100. During the theater tour of the same name, Edsilia performed soul like no other in 2013 and 2014. In 2016, Edsilia celebrated her 20th anniversary and performed her brand new theater tour Mama Sings in 30 theaters throughout the Netherlands. Inspired by the phase she is currently in, she brought her personal life - as a married woman and hardworking mother of two beautiful daughters - to life in the show. In her own unique way – warm, disarming, with humor and a wink – she talked about this special period in her life and translated this into beautiful, personal songs. She sings, surprises and moves by performing each song in her own way.

PASSION FOR MUSIC AND SINGING

Edsilia Francisca Rombley was born on February 13, 1978 in Amsterdam. Her passion for music and singing was instilled in her at an early age. When her mother divides the cleaning chores among her children at the weekends, she puts on the most wonderful Soul songs. With the stereo on ten, Edsilia, together with her brother Dino and sister Michealine, swings through the house cleaning.

She started her professional singing career in 1995 with the R&B group Dignity. When Edsilia won the Soundmixshow in 1996, she made her breakthrough. The following year she also wins the European Soundmix Show and releases her first solo single 'Baby It's You'. In 1998, Edsilia represented our country during the Eurovision Song Contest, and with success! With her single 'Hemel en Aarde' she reached fourth place, making it the highest-scoring Dutch entry of the past 35 years. When Edsilia released the hit 'What Have You Done to Me' in 2002, as a precursor to the album Face to Face, she was nominated for a TMF Award in the Best R&B category. A year later she can count on another nomination, this time for Best National Female Singer. With versatility as a strength, she continues to build her career and goes on tour in 2004 under the guidance of jazz pianist Michiel Borstlap, where she combines jazz with pop.

PRESENTATION EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2021

Chantal Janzen, Edsilia Rombley and Jan Smit present the two semi-finals and final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The three presenters, from Rotterdam Ahoy, open the three live shows for around 180 million viewers, interview the artists in the greenroom and lead the scoring. “With this presentation trio, we have primarily chosen three people with an enormous dose of presentation talent, who all started their careers as artists,” says Sietse Bakker, Executive Producer Event of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

“Twice the Eurovision Song Contest, twice the points count, twice Eurovision in Concert, and she is also one of the most authentic and idiosyncratic artists in our country. The Eurovision Song Contest fan community has taken Edsilia to its hearts and therefore the choice of Edsilia as one of our three presenters requires little further explanation,” says Sietse Bakker.
