Jeangu Macrooy

Jeangu Macrooy Jeangu Macrooy, born in Paramaribo in 1993, started his musical journey at a young age as a member of a musical duo with his twin brother. After moving to the Netherlands in 2014, he signed with Unexpected Records and released his debut EP Brave Enough (2016), quickly gaining fame and being nominated for an Edison Pop as Best Newcomer.

With his soulful debut album High On You (2017), he performed at renowned festivals and achieved success in both the Netherlands and Suriname. He was supposed to represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2020 with his song “Grow”, but this was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, he released his new Eurovision entry “Birth Of A New Age”, which earned him international recognition, including a mention in The New York Times. His third studio album Summer Moon (2022) shows his candid and diverse musical style, returning to soulful sounds mixed with electronic influences.
