LEADING ROLES

Anje

Anje is 17 years old when the Battle of Arnhem starts. She keeps a diary and writes in it what she and her family went through during the fierce battle near her parental home on the Pietersbergseweg in Oosterbeek, and later during their stay in and around the Tafelberg emergency hospital, where her father, doctor Gerrit van Maanen, provides care to the injured. She shows courage and, just like Koosje (role 2), she is a doer and go-getter. Just like Koosje, she does not understand that her 'supporters' can deal heartlessly with the suffering of their 'opponents'. Although she views the Germans with more horror than Koosje does. But she doesn't live in a liberated country either.

We are looking for Anje: you play an 18 year old woman. You are available for 2 recording days (27 and 28 June). The recordings are in Arnhem.

Koos

Koos (22) is a nurse for the Red Cross when war breaks out in Liège. She immediately cycles to Heer (L), where her parents live. But along the way the war catches up with her... Koos writes about her dangerous journey home, straight through the first violence of the war. She reports on the search for a missing friend in France and talks about the dilemmas she encounters in her work for the Red Cross. She is confronted with the conflict between neutrality and partiality. The presence of German doctors and soldiers in a Dutch hospital leads to tensions between the nurses.

We are looking for a Koos: you play a 22 year old woman. You are available for 2 recording days (29 and 30 June). The recordings are in Arnhem.
