2018: PERSONAL RESISTANCE

In 2018, the nation will commemorate resistance and reflect on peace and freedom. It was the small acts of resistance that saved us. The silent heroes who never saw themselves as heroes. But how important were their actions? That shred of humanity that reminds us that we are still human and have not degenerated into beasts. That we were able to resist the lure of darkness. Resistance without violence is there to keep our spirits up.

STORY: THE ANGEL OF ARNHEM

During WWII, people risked their lives to publicly demonstrate resistance by wearing symbols of resistance such as OZO (Orange Will Conquer), the V for Victory, the W for Wilhelmina, or orange pins. Today, people color their social media profile pictures to express a positive message. Therefore, we view the new resistance of 2018 as taking a stand for something. Alone, together, or (un)consciously with a whole group. In Bridge to Liberation Experience, we approach the theme of resistance from the present; personal resistance = taking a stand for something.
