Ruben Hein

Pianist and singer Ruben Hein is widely praised for his distinctive, warm voice and idiosyncratic piano playing. Since the release of his debut single, "Elephants," in 2010, Ruben's career has skyrocketed, with top radio ratings, numerous festival appearances, sold-out theater shows, and collaborations with artists including the Metropole Orchestra, Oleta Adams, and FINK. His participation in television programs like Linda's Zomerweek and Wie Is De Mol (Who Is The Mole) introduced Ruben to a wider audience.

On September 17, Ruben Hein will shine on the Bridge to Liberation stage. With his warm, unique voice, he will add color to the emotion of the stories. INSPIRATION “As a child and teenager, music was an inexhaustible source of inspiration, energy, and discovery. In complete ignorance, I responded purely instinctively to the music I heard. I either liked it or I didn't. As I grew older, I lost that feeling. You learn more, you're less surprised, you develop yourself. But I really missed that feeling; I wanted to rediscover it. And as simple as it sounds, I had to do that by going back to my roots, where I started as a child: singing behind a piano, alone, without any knowledge or opinions.” A NEW ALBUM For his latest album, Ruben combines his love of music and nature. He did this by building a mini-studio aboard an expedition ship and sailing around Antarctica for three weeks. In the evenings, he translated the impressions he observed during the day into musical compositions and lyrics.

With his upcoming album, Ruben won't pigeonhole his music, but rather position it somewhere in the middle of genres. His musical style straddles the intersection of pop, soul, indie, jazz, rock, and singer-songwriter.

The first single from Ruben's new album will be released at the end of August. The single "Guard Down" will be available on all streaming platforms.
