The Battle of Arnhem

On 20 September there will be an act commemoration in the presence of the veterans and the Bridge to Liberation event, and on 24 September during the commemoration of the evacuation we will all remember the sacrifices made in Arnhem for freedom in the Netherlands and Europe. We will be commemorating the battle that totally destroyed the city, the victims who fell including both soldiers and residents, and the large-scale evacuation.

The Airborne Region is an initiative of the four Airborne municipalities of Arnhem, Renkum, Ede and Overbetuwe. We are commemorating, realising and experiencing together and jointly telling the story of the Battle of Arnhem. It is about the events of September 1944, but also about the impact it still has today. In addition to commemorations, the region has a wide program with many varied activities. Do you want to know what there is to do in each municipality? The full program of the Airborne Region can also be viewed online via the website
